Striving To Be The Best YOU

I can only speak for myself when it comes to this but do you ever feel like you get caught up in life? Whether it’s following your day to day routine without any adjustments or having 1,000 things on your to do list that never seem to get accomplished…We all do it and we start to lose focus on what’s really important. I’m going to talk about a few things below that help me strive to be the best me and how you can implement them as well.

Putting Yourself First

What I mean by this is make time for YOU. If you have a family it will be much harder to do this but it is possible. Whether it’s an hour a day or 30 minutes, do something for you. Allowing yourself to have time for yourself will help you to come back down to earth and remind you how special you are.

What you can do:

  • Pick up a good book or magazine and take time to escape whatever stresses life is throwing your way. When your focus turns to reading, you’re not able to think about the 1,000 other things you need to be doing and if you are…you will probably have to reread the page. Clearly I know from experience haha.
  • Go for a walk in the park – When I’m extremely stressed and just want to break down and cry, I go to a place with water. It may sound strange but there’s something about the peace and quiet of only hearing the trees moving with the wind and the different ripples the water makes as it moves.
  • Hit up the gym. I’m always trying new things, not only to help my fitness goals but to also make me laugh and smile. ---Just watch me do Yoga and you would laugh as well :P
  • Go to the movies ALONE. Ok, the first time I did this, I felt as though people would look at me like I was CRAZY but it’s one of my favorite things to do now. If you think about it…You’re not able to carry a conversation while in a movie, so why do you have to have someone with you? You don’t. Grab your purse or wallet, buy yourself the biggest Icee they have to offer and enjoy the show.

Find Happiness Within Yourself

The problem with most people, is themselves. They’re not happy with where they are in life, who they’re surrounded by but do they change it? Most of the time no…People try and find happiness in other things that will never bring them true happiness. For a long time I would shop, shop, and then shop some more. This temporary shopping high would not fix me, it would not make me a better person, and it surely was not helping my bank account. I’ve come to learn that materialistic things bring temporary happiness and this happiness is more than likely based off of what other people will think of you. For instance, would you spend $700 on Yeezys if you and your family were the only people left on this earth…and of course Kanye since he designed them…but honestly. Why do we spend so much money on things that don’t really matter at the end of the day? I’m guilty of this as well. I will admit that I spend money on materialistic things that I probably shouldn’t. Of course I like what I’m purchasing but at some point there has to be a limit. Are you making these purchases because it’s really something you LOVE or are you doing it to impress others? Regardless of what you’re answer might be...just think about where those hard earned dollars could be spent elsewhere to bring actual happiness within yourself.

Go camping, kayaking, purchase a new bike, put gas in your car and go for a hike somewhere…Do something to bring inner peace for yourself. This coincides with “Putting Yourself First”…you have to find and do things that bring actual joy and happiness to your life.

At the end of the day you’re stuck with yourself and if you don’t love who you are, how are you suppose to live day in and day out? I have days where I’m, “stuck in my own head…” What I mean is, I’m the only one who can determine my future and if my thought process isn’t a good one, how can I do that? I can’t…I have to change the way I’m thinking and push even harder.

Set Goals

Setting goals plays a huge roll in our daily lives and it’s extremely important to have them. I’m working on a blog post about “setting realistic goals,” which I hope to share soon, but it’s extremely important to have goals in general. If we don’t know where we want to go in life or where we want to be, how can we push ourselves to get there? Goals come in all aspects of life. It can range from health, family, work, school etc. We need goals established to get us where we want to be. Grab a pin and paper, and write down 10 goals for X amount of months and strive to hit them. The more you push yourself, the more amazing you will be.

Stay Strong & True to Yourself <3

xoxo Angelina
